The White Sea is one of the youngest Russian seas. 15 thousand years ago, there was a giant ice cap. More than a half of the year, the White Sea is under the sway of ice. Its dark waters are the realm of rapid currents and low temperatures. It seems that no living organism can exist in such hostile conditions. Polar night. Long months without sun and heat. In December, polar lights become the only source of light in the sky. Its cold rays cannot penetrate the thick icy coat. The underwater world hibernates. It is only with the return of the sun that the life gets a chance.
