Extraterrestrial City lights may be found by Next-gen telescopes

Bright lights, alien cities

Next-gen telescope could detect light from alien cities

After a visit to NYU’s campus in Abu Dhabi, astrophysicist Avi Loeb had a thought: if you could see Abu Dhabi’s city lights from the moon, could we potentially see artificial light in outer space from a high powered telescope such as the Hubble?

This thought led Loeb to explore the possibilities regarding whether we can differentiate between artificial light (city lights, for example) and reflective light (light from the sun).

Key in this exploration is the future launch of the James Webb Space telescope, which is bigger and more sensitive than the Hubble. This new telescope would allow us to see farther into space and extend the search for artificial light and hospitable exoplanets.

Have you witnessed an unidentified flying object?

You are not alone. Whether you think UFOs are black projects, extraterrestrial craft, something else altogether, or just don’t know, again, you are not alone!

Unconditional love. The road we all get to walk. Unconditional love is like the sun.
