Boondocking is one of the best types of RV camping and UFO hunting! If you’re unfamiliar with the term, boondocking (typically) means camping off grid on public land, free of charge, with no services provided. For RV campers, UFO hunting in remote locations is the best way to experience freedom while still having the self-contained amenities of your RV. However, even with UFO hunting, there are certain rules you should never break.
By the way, if you don’t own an RV, no worries because you can rent one from our friends at RV Share, which is a great way to try out RVing before you buy! Or if you’ve never been camping before like I was a few years ago, it’s a great way to “get your feet wet!”
Today we’re exploring the “Our Favorite Arizona Free RV Site for UFO Hunting”
So let’s dive in… shall we?
~ Naval Observatory Road in Flagstaff, Arizona ~
If you’re a UFO hunter and love mountain views with cooler temps, you’re gonna love Flagstaff folks! There’s free camping sites here but we suggest smaller rigs as opposed to larger ones because of the road, trees etc.
Location: Observatory Access Rd., Flagstaff, AZ 86001
Price: FREE

Now when you go UFO hunting or boondocking / dry camping, always be respectful of your fellow campers. Here’s a few simple things to remember:
✔️️ Don’t park too close to another camper, unless it’s a very small campground.
✔️️Don’t be noisy.
✔️️ Tie your dog up so he/she doesn’t bother other campers or their dogs.
✔️️Pick up garbage.
✔️️And leave no trace when you leave.
10 Essentials To Bring UFO Hunting While Boondocking:
1. Camera – this should be a good one that you set up to video your entire evening.
2. NO bright lights of any kind!
3. Water
4. Spare batteries
5. Bug spray
6. Binoculars or Telescope
7. Compass
8. Cell phone
9. Pen and paper for note taking
10. Generator: To boondock for more than one day, you’ll need to do a little preparation: make sure you have enough food on hand, be sure your water tanks are full, know the limits of your holding tanks and have a game plan for emergencies and for your power needs.
A generator is the easiest path to instant availability for high power. The Honda 2200 (linked in the previous sentence) is a high quality unit that has stood the test of time.
You can also use a RV solar power kit. It requires more money and more battery space.
Free camping happens on public land – BLM land, National Forests & County Parks primarily. Always do your research before boondocking. Have a Plan B in case your original site doesn’t fit the bill.
Happy Camping & UFO Hunting
